FIRST-TIMER GUIDE · NEW PM BLOCKS

First class at the new PM block? Here's exactly what to expect.

Answers to the four questions every first-timer asks before committing to a 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, or 6pm class — gear, parking, intensity, and how to show up.

01

What to bring — Gear

Keep it simple. You need three things and nothing more for your first class:

  • Training shoes  — flat, stable sole. Running shoes are fine. No dress shoes.
  • Water bottle  — we have spare bottles at the front desk if you forget.
  • Towel

Optional If you have them — wrist wraps, lifting gloves, a heart-rate monitor. Don't buy anything new for your first class; scale-to-fitness means bodyweight works fine for every block.

Where to park + how to find us — Parking

MC's HIIT House · Cypress, CA

📍 Get directions on Google Maps →

We have 6–8 free on-site parking spots right out front — first come, first served. If the lot is full (rare, usually 5pm), here's the backup:

  • Rear alley  — directly behind the studio, always open.
  • Curbside on Katella  — no time limit outside posted meters; check the signage at the head of the block.
03

What intensity level to expect — Intensity

Every new PM block is a 45-minute coached HIIT session — working intervals 30–60 seconds with rest, scaling each movement to your current fitness.

On your first class you'll match perceived effort, not absolute load. The coach calls modifications for every block — if you'd rather run instead of row, sub bodyweight for kettlebell, drop the jump from the burpee — say so and the coach will hand you a scaled version on the spot.

Leave ego at the door. Nobody is watching your reps. The coach is scanning the room so you don't have to think about it. You stop when you need to stop.

"Scale-to-fitness isn't a slogan. It's how the program is built. First-timers finish the same workout as veterans — just at a different gear." — Coach Mike

First-timer walkthrough — How to show up

Four steps. About ten minutes from curb to warm-up.

  1. 1
Arrive 10 minutes early. Doors open ten minutes before the block. That gives you time to park, drop your stuff at the cubbies, and settle in without rushing the warm-up.
  2. 2
Sign the digital waiver at the front desk. Takes under a minute. First-timers only — once it's on file, you're cleared for every future class. Already signed? Skip straight to step 3.
  3. 3
Meet the coach. Tell them this is your first class. They'll give you the day's workout flow, point out the modifications, and answer any question you've been sitting with. You can also pre-sign the waiver ahead of time at /qr-checkin →
  4. 4
Hydrate and warm up. Fill your bottle at the station, hit the foam roller if you want, and the coach will run a 5-minute group warm-up before the first working block.

That's it. The hardest part is showing up.
